The Bauchi State Police Command, through its spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the incident in a statement to the press on Saturday. Wakil described the event as an act of economic vandalism, highlighting the recovery of remnants of the IED at the scene by a specialized team from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Chemicals Biological Radioactive and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit, who were promptly deployed following the incident report.
This deliberate attack on public property has been vehemently condemned by the state Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, who has since ordered a comprehensive investigation to apprehend and prosecute those responsible. The police are calling on the community for cooperation, requesting any information that could assist in the investigation and reassuring the public of their safety and the control of the situation.
