Bangladesh Clinch Historic Series Win Over Pakistan with Thrilling Victory in Rawalpindi

Bangladesh secured their first-ever Test series victory over Pakistan by winning the second Test in Rawalpindi by six wickets, completing a 2-0 series sweep. The visitors held their nerve during a challenging run-chase on the final day, successfully chasing down 185 runs to achieve their third-highest successful run-chase in Test cricket.

The victory marked a significant turnaround for Bangladesh, who found themselves in deep trouble at 26-6 in their first innings. However, a remarkable partnership between Litton Das (138) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (78) rescued the innings, allowing Bangladesh to post a total of 262, just 12 runs behind Pakistan’s first innings score of 274.

In Pakistan’s second innings, seamer Hasan Mahmud produced a stellar performance, taking 5-43, while 21-year-old fast bowler Nahid Rana impressed with figures of 4-44, as Pakistan were bowled out for 172 in just 47 overs.

Bangladesh’s top order then displayed composure and determination in their chase, with all of the top six batsmen contributing scores over 20. Their efforts ensured a famous six-wicket victory on the fifth day, propelling Bangladesh to fourth place in the World Test Championship standings, ahead of England.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s struggles continue, as they remain winless in their last 10 home Tests—a run not seen since an 11-game winless streak between 1969 and 1975. Pakistan will look to bounce back when they host England for a three-Test series in October.
