Tragedy struck Yar Nasarawa village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State as bandits unleashed a deadly assault, resulting in the deaths of six individuals and leaving 10 others wounded. The attack, characterized by simultaneous strikes, occurred while residents were settling down for the night, plunging the community into chaos and despair.
Reports indicate that the bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, descended upon the village under the cover of darkness, setting ablaze three houses and four motorcycles in their wake. In addition to the loss of lives and property, a yet-to-be-ascertained number of villagers were abducted, further exacerbating the anguish felt by the community.
The reign of terror extended to Ruwangodiya village within the same local government area, where bandits rustled an unspecified number of domestic animals, compounding the losses suffered by residents. The aftermath of the attacks has left communities reeling, grappling with the grim reality of insecurity plaguing the region.
Confirming the incident, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the spokesman for the state police command, affirmed the harrowing toll exacted by the banditry. Security operatives have been mobilized to the affected areas in a bid to restore normalcy and apprehend the perpetrators, with the Commissioner of Police overseeing efforts to ensure the swift and thorough investigation of the attacks.
