Famous singers Ayra Starr and Tems have been announced as the most streamed Nigerian artists on Spotify.
The global music streaming platform revealed this in its list of Nigeria’s top 30 tracks for the first half of 2024. Ayra Starr’s success was highlighted by her collaboration with Rauw Alejandro on the track ‘Santa,’ securing the top spot. Her solo hit ‘Comma’ came in second, while Tems’ ‘Love Me Jeje’ placed third.
Luciano and Omah Lay’s ‘Another Vibe’ ranked fourth, followed by Burna Boy and Savage’s ‘Metro Booming Just Like Me’ in fifth place. Tyla and Tems’ ‘No.1’ took the sixth spot.
Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music Sub-Saharan Africa, explained during a press conference in Lagos that “the list recognized Nigeria’s most listened-to tracks from outside the country between January 1 and June 30, 2024.
