In a significant development for the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, was officially presented with his certificate of return by the party’s leadership.
The ceremony, held at the National Executive Committee Hall of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, saw Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Amb. Umar Damagun, along with other party officials, facilitating the presentation of the certificate to Ighodalo.
Senator James Manager, representing Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, who chaired the Primary Election Committee, commended the rigorous process, describing it as challenging but ultimately successful.
In his address, Amb. Damagun urged Ighodalo to foster unity within the party by reaching out to fellow contenders from the primary. He emphasized the importance of building trust and collaboration among party members to ensure success in the forthcoming elections.
Furthermore, Amb. Damagun reiterated the party’s singular identity, dismissing any notion of parallel primaries. He affirmed that there is only one PDP, reinforcing the unity and cohesion essential for the party’s endeavors.
