Arsenal Eyeing Barcelona Forward Mariona Caldentey as Potential Signing

Arsenal is reportedly targeting Barcelona forward Mariona Caldentey as a potential addition to their squad when her contract expires at the end of the season. The 28-year-old Spanish international, who clinched the World Cup with Spain in 2023 and boasts two Women’s Champions League titles with Barcelona, has seen contract talks with the Spanish champions stall, sparking increased interest from Arsenal in recent weeks.

However, any potential developments regarding Caldentey’s transfer are likely to be put on hold until after Barcelona’s Women’s Champions League final clash against Lyon on 25 May.

The move for Caldentey comes as Arsenal confirmed the departure of Netherlands striker Vivianne Miedema, who will not be offered a new contract. Rivals Manchester City are reportedly poised to make a move for Miedema, leaving a void that Caldentey could potentially fill.

Additionally, Arsenal is said to be preparing an offer for Aston Villa goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar, indicating a busy summer transfer window for the London-based club.
