Armed Men Attack Bus, Leaving Passengers Missing in Benue-Taraba Highway Incident

An unfortunate incident unfolded on the Benue-Taraba highway as armed men, suspected to be vigilantes, attacked an 18-seater bus traveling from Zaki/Biam in Benue State to Maihura in Taraba State. According to the bus driver, Mr. Mpuug Mbaave, armed individuals dressed in vigilante uniforms assaulted the vehicle, resulting in the disappearance of at least 15 passengers, including women and children. The driver narrowly escaped with machete wounds after deciding to flee the scene. Reports indicate that the attackers accused the passengers, primarily of Tiv ethnicity, of being responsible for the deaths of their members. The Chairman of Doonga Local Government Council, Hon. Ezra Voka, has initiated search efforts in the nearby forest for the missing individuals. The incident underscores the need for urgent intervention and investigation to ensure the safety of travelers on highways.
