The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured a clean sweep in the local government elections held across Kogi State, winning all 21 chairmanship and 239 councilorship seats. The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) announced the results on Saturday night, with chairman Mamman Nda Eri confirming the outcome at the commission’s premises, which were under heavy security.
Despite declaring the APC’s dominance, Eri did not provide any details on the number of votes cast or the performance of other parties. Instead, he noted that the results had already been declared at the local government level, and his announcement was a confirmation of those figures.
The KOSIEC chairman expressed gratitude to Kogi residents for their participation, as well as to observers, security personnel, and commission staff for contributing to a peaceful electoral process.
