APC Names Hon. Dennis Idahosa as Deputy Governorship Candidate for Edo Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially selected Hon. Dennis Idahosa as its deputy governorship candidate for the September 21 Edo governorship election. Idahosa will stand alongside APC candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo in the upcoming polls.

Hon. Dennis Idahosa, who previously contested for the APC ticket during the party primaries, emerged as the chosen deputy governorship candidate after losing to Okpebholo. The decision was announced during a meeting on Sunday night, attended by prominent party figures including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, and Senator Okpebholo himself, among others.

Idahosa’s unveiling ceremony took place in the presence of key party chieftains, solidifying his position as the running mate for Senator Okpebholo in the forthcoming election. The move comes as part of the APC’s strategic preparations for the November 21, 2024 election in Edo State.

Following the announcement, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and National Secretary Sen. Ajibola Bashiru are set to present Senator Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the villa today, signaling the party’s alignment and coordination at the national level.

Hon. Dennis Idahosa’s selection marks a significant development in the APC’s campaign strategy, replacing Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who was previously named as the running mate by the governorship candidate. As the party gears up for the election, the decision to appoint Idahosa underscores the APC’s commitment to fielding a strong and cohesive team to secure victory in Edo State.
