Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Etsako West Chapter in Delta State staged a protest on Tuesday against the purported planned return of the impeached deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, to the party.
Representing APC stakeholders in Etsako West Local Government Area, Yakubu Musa presented a communique expressing concerns over Shaibu’s potential re-entry into the party. Musa emphasized that Shaibu’s departure from the APC in 2020 had brought peace and tranquility to the party, warning that his return could disrupt harmony and unity within the APC ranks.
The protesters, hailing from the 12 wards in the council area, marched to the party secretariat to deliver their petition opposing Shaibu’s alleged comeback. They viewed Shaibu’s potential return as a calculated move to sow discord, disharmony, and unprecedented crisis within the APC.
Musa appealed to the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and the State Acting Chairman, Jaret Tenebe, urging them to prevent Shaibu’s readmission into the APC. He asserted that Shaibu lacked political value and had not won any elections since his departure from the APC for the PDP.
Highlighting the potential consequences of Shaibu’s return, Musa warned that it could lead to crisis, fragmentation, disaffection, disenchantment, and disintegration within the Edo APC. He called upon the national leaders of the party to heed their concerns and maintain the current peace enjoyed within the Edo APC.
