APC Mega Rally: Vice President Shettima and Top Party Officials Back Okpebholo for Edo Governorship

Vice President Kassim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and nine governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) headlined a mega rally on Saturday at the University of Benin Sports Complex to bolster the party’s campaign for the upcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State.

The rally saw participation from notable APC figures including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Cross River Governor Bassey Otu, Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Kogi Governor Ahmed Ododo, Kwara Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi.

In his address, Shettima emphasized the need for a leader with strategic vision and compassion for Edo State. “Intelligence is not determined by the size of the head but by the ability to solve problems affecting the people,” Shettima stated. He voiced confidence in APC’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate Dennis Idahosa, urging voters to support the APC candidates.

Senator Akpabio praised Okpebholo for his performance in the Senate and his capacity to deliver on democratic promises. Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole criticized incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki, accusing him of failing to address key issues such as market rebuilds and mismanagement of state resources.

APC National Chairman Umar Ganduje condemned the past eight years of state management, citing insecurity and unemployment as major concerns. He urged voters to back the APC to rectify these issues.

Senator Monday Okpebholo outlined his plans if elected, including the hiring of 5,000 teachers within his first 100 days and providing soft loans to market women. He also promised to enhance primary healthcare facilities across the state.
