Amotekun Arrests 67 Suspected Criminals in Ondo State

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun corps, has apprehended 67 individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping and various other criminal activities across the state.

Working in collaboration with the police, army, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun corps conducted operations leading to the arrest of the suspects over the past two weeks.

Commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that many of the apprehended individuals had been positively identified by their victims, further corroborating their complicity in criminal acts. The suspects were apprehended in different parts of the state during the culmination of Operation Ember Months, which targeted criminal elements.

Adeleye emphasized the diversity of criminal activities among the suspects, ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery, housebreaking, and murder. Additionally, three of the detainees had previously escaped from prison custody while facing criminal charges in Benin, Edo State.

Highlighting the significance of the arrests, Adeleye stressed the determination of the government to maintain peace and security in Ondo State. He underscored the message sent to criminals that their activities would not be tolerated, and concerted efforts would be made to safeguard the state’s socio-economic activities.

Adeleye urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the security agencies, reaffirming the Amotekun corps’ unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and stability of Ondo State.
