Ambode Dispels Blame: Urges Nigerians to Confront Economic Challenges Head-On

Former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, addressed the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria, asserting that President Bola Tinubu is not the sole architect of the current hardships. Ambode emphasized the need for Nigerians to confront these issues directly rather than engaging in a blame game.

Speaking at the 2024 Leadership Colloquium and Award hosted by the Akinjide Adeosun Foundation in Lagos, Ambode highlighted that the economic challenges faced by the nation are rooted in systemic issues that extend beyond any individual leader. He urged citizens to delve into the fundamentals of the problems facing the country to gain a comprehensive understanding.

“It has nothing to do with the singular person called Mr President; but if we don’t understand the fundamentals, we will start playing the blame games. We need to face our problems frontally,” Ambode stated. He emphasized that continuing the blame game without addressing the core issues would perpetuate the cycle of challenges.

Ambode also touched upon the fatigue surrounding the persistent issues facing the country and acknowledged President Tinubu’s determination to tackle these challenges. The former governor stressed the importance of collectively addressing and resolving the longstanding issues, acknowledging that finding fault with leaders alone does not contribute to a sustainable solution.

As Nigeria grapples with economic complexities, Ambode’s call for a focused and pragmatic approach aims to encourage citizens to actively participate in finding solutions rather than merely assigning blame. The recognition of systemic challenges beyond any individual leader is pivotal in fostering a constructive dialogue towards sustainable economic solutions.
