Alex Albon Extends Contract with Williams until 2026

Williams Racing has confirmed that Alex Albon, the 28-year-old British-born Thai driver, has inked a new contract extension with the team, securing his presence at least until the end of the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Albon, who joined Williams in 2022, had previously been operating under a contract set to expire at the conclusion of the next season. The specifics of the new deal have not been disclosed by Williams, but it is described as a “multi-year contract extension” that positions Albon to navigate Formula 1’s forthcoming regulatory era starting in 2026.

Expressing his commitment to Williams’ long-term project, Albon stated, “This is a long-term project that I really believe in and want to play a key role in which is why I have signed a multi-year contract.” He conveyed confidence in the team’s trajectory and its potential to achieve significant success in the years ahead.

Williams, under the leadership of team principal James Vowles, aims to rebound from a challenging period. Despite finishing seventh last season, the team has faced setbacks in 2024, including delays in the car-build process and on-track incidents leading to pressure on performance.

Acknowledging the team’s recent hurdles, Albon remarked, “It has been a difficult start to the year, but since joining Williams we have made significant progress together.” He emphasized the substantial changes occurring behind the scenes to propel Williams back to competitiveness in Formula 1.

Williams highlighted the significance of Albon’s renewed commitment, underscoring their dedication to constructing a competitive team capable of challenging for podiums and championships in Formula 1. Vowles expressed delight in securing Albon’s long-term future with Williams, praising his talent, technical input, and unwavering dedication to the team’s objectives.
