The Nigerian military’s air component of Operation Whirl Punch has successfully neutralized 30 terrorists in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. This decisive action was taken following an intelligence report that revealed the movement of terrorists in the region.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information, confirmed in a statement that these terrorists were behind the recent ambush on troops at Kwanan Mutuwa, as well as numerous attacks and kidnappings of innocent civilians in the area.
The operation, focusing on the Northwest and Northcentral regions of Nigeria, aimed to eradicate the threats posed by terrorism and kidnapping. Intelligence pointed to the terrorists’ movement along the Kwiga-Kampamin Doka axis in Birnin Gwari LGA.
Upon reaching the suspected location, the military observed a convoy of about 15 motorcycles, each carrying at least two armed terrorists. A precise and targeted air strike was conducted, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists.
