Afenifere, the Yoruba pan socio-cultural group, has urged Yoruba men and women to distance themselves from the planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) scheduled for Monday. The call came from Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the National leader of Afenifere’s faction, in a statement he personally signed.
Addressing the nation’s challenges, Fasoranti emphasized the importance of recognizing the efforts of the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in resolving these issues. While acknowledging the hardships faced by the people, Fasoranti stressed the need for patience and understanding, noting that the government’s economic measures are aimed at fostering long-term stability.
Highlighting the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the Naira, Fasoranti explained that these measures, though painful in the short term, are designed to create a more sustainable economic environment for the nation’s benefit in the long run. He called for collective understanding and resilience from every citizen as the country navigates through challenging times.
Fasoranti emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue and positive contribution to ongoing economic reforms, urging unity and understanding among the people. He assured that elders are actively engaging with the government to address the concerns of the people.
