Aerial Attacks Escalate as Missiles Strike Kyiv; Tensions Intensify

Amid escalating tensions, Ukrainian air defense systems intercepted two Russian missiles over Kyiv, resulting in debris falling to the ground and injuring ten people, including a teenage girl. Additionally, a 65-year-old man died in the eastern Kharkiv region during Russian shelling. The attack marked the third aerial bombardment of the Ukrainian capital in five days.

Emergency workers in Kyiv cleared debris from damaged buildings, with officials reporting damage to central districts, including an arts academy building and a gym. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the urgent need for better air defense systems to protect cities and save lives.

The attack coincided with Russian drone strikes in southern Ukraine, leaving residents in Mykolaiv and Odesa without electricity. In response, a fire broke out at a major Russian power plant in the Rostov region, bordering Ukraine, following Ukrainian drone attacks. Governor Vasily Golubev confirmed that two power units at the Novocherkassk power station were taken offline.
