Abia State Security Agencies Intensify Measures for Safe Easter Celebrations

Security agencies in Abia State have announced comprehensive plans to ensure the safety and security of residents during the 2024 Easter celebrations.

The Abia State Police Command, represented by its Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed the activation of an Operation Order aimed at safeguarding the Easter festivities. Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwumelie emphasized the deployment of officers across the state to implement security measures before, during, and after the celebrations. Regular patrols of public spaces and roads are underway to prevent any disruptions to the festivities.

Commissioner Onwumelie urged Abians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining security.

Similarly, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant, Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, reiterated the commitment of the agency to ensuring the safety of lives and property during the Easter period. Strategic deployments have been made to key locations such as worship centers, event venues, motor parks, and malls to enhance security.

Commandant Alfadarai emphasized adherence to global best practices by security personnel and warned against any misconduct, stating that disciplinary measures will be enforced according to the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedure.

As Christians commemorate Easter, Commandant Alfadarai urged them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, peace, and love exemplified by Jesus Christ. He called for continued support from the public by providing valuable information to aid security efforts.
