Abia State Actors Guild Calls for Peace Amid Leadership Dispute

Members of the Abia State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) have raised their voices in a call for peace, urging the national leadership of the organization to foster harmony among actors.

Following their monthly meeting in Umuahia, AGN members expressed concern over alleged instigation of crisis within the Abia AGN by the National President, Emeka Rollas. Nathaniel Nwoko, Daniel Egwu, and Chukwuemeka Onyekwere, the Public Relations Officer of Abia AGN, voiced their grievances, citing the lack of recognition for David Amalaha, who was duly elected as Abia State Chairman in May 2023.

The aggrieved actors claimed that instead of acknowledging Amalaha’s leadership, Rollas imposed Dorris Ogala as the interim Chairman of Abia AGN, despite the presence of a legitimate executive led by Amalaha. They further accused the National President of exacerbating tensions by alleging some AGN members in Abia of affiliations with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), prompting interventions from the Zone 9 Police Command.
