Abia Governor Alex Otti Urges Edo Labour Party Supporters to Safeguard Votes in Upcoming Election

Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has called on Labour Party (LP) supporters in Edo State to protect their votes during the upcoming September 21 governorship election. Otti joined the LP candidate, Olumide Akpata, at campaign rallies in Benin, emphasizing the need to ensure votes are not compromised.

Addressing the supporters, Otti said, “I already know that you will vote for LP. My coming here is to tell you to protect your votes. In Abia State, we didn’t sleep for four days. If you sleep, they will steal your votes.” He urged young people to stay at polling units after voting and to follow the results from the units through to the collation centers at the ward, local government, and state levels.

Otti expressed his confidence in Akpata and his running mate, Yusuf Kadiri, calling them the best candidates to lead Edo. Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Secretary of the LP Caretaker Committee, echoed this sentiment, stating that Edo could benefit from the party’s “template of greatness,” similar to the progress seen in Abia.

Akpata reassured supporters of the party’s commitment to peace, highlighting that he had signed a peace accord for the election. “We don’t fight, and we will make sure that our votes are protected,” he said.

The campaign visited key areas including the Evbareke Spare Parts Market, Mission Road, and James Watt, with notable figures such as Senator Neda Imasuen and Edosa Osaro, a member of the Edo House of Assembly, accompanying the campaign team.
