6,700 Applicants Compete for 380 Teaching Positions in Enugu

On Saturday, around 6,700 applicants took exams for 380 teaching jobs at various secondary schools in Enugu State. This recruitment aims to replace teachers who have retired.

The Chairman of the Enugu State Post Primary School Management Board, Fr. Hilary Mgbodile, said that over 12,000 applications were received, but only 6,700 were shortlisted for the examination. The tests, held in five centers, covered subjects like English, ICT, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

The board plans to select the most qualified candidates and may call for additional applications if needed. An independent recruiting company is assisting to ensure meritocracy and objectivity. Mgbodile emphasized the need for qualified teachers, particularly in rural areas, and stressed the importance of upholding high standards in the recruitment process.
