Grapplers finish 3rd at Louisville Invite
The Blue Jay Wrestlers went to Louisville and competed in their tough 14 team invitational tournament. Newman Grove finished 3rd with a team record of 31-21.
Scott Boettcher won the first match of his freshman campaign and we were all happy for him. This tournament places out to 8th but only the top 4 get medals.
Placing for the Jays were: 103- Scott Boettcher 7th, 130- Matt King 5th, 135- Derek Wallin 8th, 140- Ross Super 8th, and Chris Harris 8th.

| Sheldon Boschen receives his 1st place medal. |
 |
| Jordan Fowles breaks a record with his 132nd gold medal. |
Medaling for the Jays were the following: 112-Jordan Fowlkes 1st, 119-Sheldon Boschen 1st, 125- Tyler Zoucha 3rd, 130-Jerett Sueper 3rd, 145-Luke Gasper 1st, and 215-Derek Stone 1st.
Jordan Fowlkes a senior has broken Matt Stone’s record for career wins. Matt’s record was 122 and Jordan right now has 132. He’s well on his way to setting a very high standard. The State Class C record for wins is 148.
Up next for the Jays is a triangular at home with West Point CC and Howells on Thursday night. Both of them should be very good duals.
 |
| Jerett Sueper takes third place. |
Luke Gasper, now has 99 wins and will be going for his 100th on Thursday. 100 wins is a milestone wrestlers shoot for during their careers. Luke will be the 10th wrestler in NG history to reach this number of wins. The 9 wrestlers before Luke are Jordan Fowlkes, Matt Stone, Eddie Schmitt, Jared Nygren, Derrick Guthard, Nick Schmitt, Travis Anderson, Perry Mostek, and Kellen Habben.
On Saturday, the Jays will be heading to Waterloo for the DC-West Invitational. Some of teams we will be facing there are Bennington, East Butler, DC-West, Conestoga, and Louisville.
