Lady Jays lose to Conference rival

Tim Rossow

Parent’s Night 2008 saw the Lady Jays host Cornhusker Conference rival Lindsay Holy Family in girl’s basketball action last Saturday night, December 6.

The Lady Jays started the game very cold, only scoring two points in the first quarter. The second quarter proved to be a little better offensively, however we went into the locker room still trailing 25-12 at the half.

The Lady Jays showed a lot of heart and competitiveness as they fought back to within four points in the second half, but in the end just couldn’t complete the comeback. The coaches are proud of the fact that the girls didn’t give up when they fell behind early in the game, but we also realize that in order to be successful; we have to play four good quarters of basketball.

Lady Bulldogs down Newman Grove

Holy Family girls played their second game of the season Saturday night against the Newman Grove Bluejays.

The Lady Jays may have had the home court advantage, but that didn’t stop the Bulldogs from coming out on fire and scoring 12 points to their 2. The Bulldogs’ efforts continued well into the 2nd half with the final score reading 41 to 32.

The Bulldogs’ leading scorer that night was Natalie Korus with 16; Andrea Weeder and Jenny Frisch both ended the night with 6 points each. Korus also had 1 rebound, 5 assists and 4 steals, Frisch had 8 rebounds and 1 steal. The Bulldogs will play Spalding/Spalding Academy next Thursday night, December 11, at home.
