Newman Grove Community Foundation accepts challenge

The Newman Grove Community Foundation takes great pleasure in formally announcing the “Friends of Newman Grove Challenge Fund”. The Challenge Fund has two parts; the Challenge Fund donations and a matching fund. Each time a donation is made to the Challenge fund, it will be matched at 50%. For example, a $100 gift to the Challenge fund will become $150 through the matching fund process.

Foundation Board Members are pictured (L-R) Zane Wondercheck, Randy Benson, Dennis McCloud, Gene Wissenburg, Tom Larson, Tim Rossow and Hector Arrequin. Not pictured are Pam King and Paul Cederlind.

Through the generous giving of a group of individuals calling themselves Friends of Newman Grove, $50,000 has been donated to use as the matching fund. The goal of the Foundation is to raise an additional $100,000 over the next two years, 2009-2010. Through the matching process, the $100,000 will produce $150,000 for the benefit of Newman Grove. All funds donated to the Challenge fund will be held in escrow; only the interest generated will be used to fund community improvement projects and programs.

Newman Grove Community Foundation funds are presently being used to sponsor entrepreneurship activities for youth, economic development, and nontraditional career scholarships. Specific projects underway this year are helping sponsor four high school students in an entrepreneurship class at Central Community College, purchasing study materials and work books for our junior high business program, assisting with advertising of a new start-up business and working with the Bluejay Foundation in sponsoring a $1,000 career scholarship.

Fund Advisory Committee members include Hector Arreguin, Randy Benson, Paul Cederlind, Pam King, Tom Larson, Dennis McCloud, Tim Rossow, Gene Wissenburg, and Zane Wondercheck. Any fund advisory committee member will answer questions and take suggestions about the “Friends of Newman Grove Challenge Fund” and its potential impact on the future and betterment of our community. Gifts may be sent to Newman Grove Community Foundation, P.O. Box 504, Newman Grove, NE 68758.
