Cross Country team’s District Champions

Country teams showed their dominance by capturing the District title in both the boys and girls races.

Andrea Weeder led the charge for the girls, setting a course record. Breanna Korus ran a strong second beating third place by nearly 30 seconds. Melanie Fehringer placed 13th, April Ramaekers 17th, Lacey McPhillips 23rd, and Stacy Beller 26th. “Both Melanie and Stacy ran a strong finish and picked off a few runners. All the girls ran a great race.” stated Coach Weeder.

The girls team scored 28pts, followed by East Butler at 47.

Kevin Weeder won the boys race, Kyle Wegener placed 8th, Kelan Schumacher 9th, Robert Plugge 17th, Shawn Korth 26th, and Jerett Sueper 32nd. “Our boys are running strong as a team, and to have 3 medallists at Districts is great.

For Holy Family to be champions on both sides was one of our goals. “I’m really happy for these kids, they’ve worked hard during the season.” said Coach Weeder.

The boys scored 30 pts followed by Tri County at 44.

Fourteen schools were represented at the D2 District Meet held at Branched Oak Lake near Malcom. Holy Family’s next action is at the State Meet in Kearney at noon on Friday, October 24th.
