Library corner

Kathy Strong

the kids slowly making their way to school in the morning and rushing home after, the football players heading down to practice filled with big dreams then limp back up again after a hard workout, the volleyball players leaving the gym not bothering to take off the knee pads, just ready to go home and take on the homework. There is so much going on it’s hard to know where to begin!

Here at the library we got to enjoy all of the grade school kids coming over and getting their first of many books for the school year. Even the pre-schoolers picked out just the right book.

We read the story “First Day Jitters” and got a big surprise as to who was really jittery about their first day, and we read “Bear Feels Sick” and how nice it is to have good friends.

Spooky stories and football seem to be the hot topics with the older groups.

We want to thank the Order of Eastern Star out of Fremont, who donated several books to the library.

Emily Strong has brought up some of her interesting treasure to display in the cabinet. She has quite a collection of glass insulators. I am sure you all have something to share, so call sometime and we will get it in.

The new Nebraska Access Password is now available. This will allow you access to many different sites, including magazines and books.

Mary Jane Sojka has decided to retire again. She has been a great help here while I was on maternity leave, and I want to thank her for everything. It made being gone and then the coming back a lot easier. We wish her the best, as she will have more time to go fishing now.

Coming soon there will be a new look here at the library, as we will be replacing the windows and the front door thanks to the hailstorm. Come on in and see us.
