Tim Barnes named outstanding citizen
In conjunction with the 135th celebration of the Madison County Fair and Rodeo, one outstanding citizen from each Madison County community was honored on Thursday, July 10, during the rodeo.
Newman Grove’s outstanding citizen was Tim Barnes. Tim has been a member of Madison County all of his life. He graduated from Newman Grove, went on for further education, and then came back to his hometown to raise his family and help run the family grocery store, Barnes Mini Mart.
His wife, Johanna is an elementary teacher in Newman Grove and they have two girls.
Tim is an active member in the community and very involved with numerous community groups, such as the Community Club, Shell Creek Valley Days, Octerberfest, and Yuletide Days. Tim is always willing to lend a helping hand and deserves this award. Congratulations, Tim!
