Community Foundation to hold cook-out and annual meeting
The Newman Grove Community Foundation announces its annual meeting of the membership to be held on Tuesday, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Firemen’s meeting room of the new fi re hall. Preceding the meeting, all current and future Foundation members are invited to a cook-out compliments of the Foundation. The meal will be served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Foundation is pleased to announce that Jeffery T. Peetz has agreed to serve as guest speaker for the evening. Mr. Peetz is a partner in the Woods & Aitken law fi rm based in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Peetz maintains an offi ce in Newman Grove where he meets with clients on a regular basis. His law practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning, business succession planning, estate and trust administration and banking law. In addition to these areas, he also works with estate and trust litigation matters, agricultural law matters, real estate transactions and entity formation and corporate governance matters associated with his estate planning and estate and trust administration practices. Mr. Peetz has served on numerous non-profi t boards and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lincoln Community Foundation.
Those joining the Newman Grove Community Foundation or renewing their memberships at the annual meeting will be entered in a drawing to win a Husker tailgate BBQ grill. Three new members will be elected to the Fund Advisory Committee to fi ll the expiring terms of Brad Cox, Jeff Gerhart and Ray Herbert.
Newly created in 2005, the mission of the Newman Grove Community Foundation is to provide encouragement for giving in order to enhance the quality of life in Newman Grove and to foster community betterment for future generations.
Goals established by the Fund Advisory Committee include supporting entrepreneurship, awarding a non-traditional scholarship based on career goals, assisting with economic development projects and raising $100,000 for the Endowment Fund. Successful projects recently completed include partnering with the Bluejay Foundation to award a $1,000 career scholarship to Adrian Ruiz, a 2008 graduate of Newman Grove High School, and providing financial assistance to the City of Newman Grove to reinstate its membership in the Elkhorn Valley Economic Development Council.
