And they’re off...Conner Johnson, Parker Wallin and Sadie Wallin started off with lots of energy.

Swim for Slide a cool success

It was a hot, humid day, but nearly two dozen youth splashed, played and had fun raising pledges.

The purpose of the fundraiser? To increase the fun, of course! The Swim for Slide campaign worked to raise money for a slide at the city pool.

“We took in $3,043.52 for the day, and the firemen collected $1,240.00,” reported Shae Wallin.

Other gifts above the $4,283.52 bring the total to more than $5 thousand.

Abbie Pieke won an iPod for her pledge drive efforts. Bryton Fowlkes was awarded a bike.

Participants also received other prizes such as slushies or fried ice cream or a manicure, which were donated by local businesses.

Several youth swam laps as a part of the fund raising efforts. Swimmers were given thirty minutes to get in as many laps as they could.

Parker Wallin swam the most laps, 36, in that time. He was followed by Connor Johnson with 34 laps. Sarah Johnson swam 26, Bryton Fowlkes swam 25. Sadie Wallin reached 22 laps and Cheyenne Cleland swam 17.

One of the various water games the US92 staff had prepared for those who had collected donations and had no pledge money to earn.

US 92 came to cover the day, and Clint Leifeld helped the non-swimmers play several games.

A pizza party provided the refreshment.

Participating in the day were: Hunter Steinbach; Conner Johnson; Michelle Julsen; Alexis Kopecky; Jayme Bollig; Abbie Pieke; Becca Stone; Kaden and Mara Ranslem; Will Dyer; Keaton Morris; Kyle Stone; Peyton Farmer; Jayson Johnson; Brady Sokol; Bryton Fowlkes; Logan Hodges; Joel Garcia; William Haddix; Maria Cuevas; Sadie Wallin; Cheyenne Cleland; and Sara Johnson.

The kids had a great deal of fun and made a big splash (in more ways than one). Thanks to the supporting business and adults who made this possible.
