Newman Grove’s Stone brings home the Silver

The Newman Grove/Lindsay Holy Family wrestling team brought home an individual silver medal at the State Tournament on Saturday. Derek Stone, a senior at the 285 pound weight class brought home the only medal for the NG/LHF team. All four of the State qualifiers did their best, but it was not enough for three of them to get into the medal round.
The results for the three remaining qualifiers are as follows: Dylan Zoucha got pinned by Brandon Trout of Mitchell and Kolby Lenhart of Central City. Jerett Sueper got pinned by Connor Blanco of Mitchell and got pinned by Alexander Svitak of Wood River. Sheldon Boschen got pinned by Garret Lambrecht of Wood River, pinned Michael Printz of Syracuse, and lost to Ricky Avila 1-2 of Madison. Derek Stone pinned Chad Hartman of Gibbon, pinned Derek Filipi of Wilbur-Clatonia, pinned Traygan Mumford of Thayer Central, and lost to Clayton Olcott of Sargent-Burwell.
The team results for the State Wrestling Tournament was Newman Grove/Lindsay Holy Family finishing with 27 points. The champions of the Class C were both Mitchell and Madison with 122 points. The wrestlers would like to thank the faculty and staff from both schools for their support.
