The third grade class of Newman Grove Schools once again participated in a Pennies Project for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This is the second year that the 3rd grade has made this project part of their observance of Random Acts of Kindness Week (February15th-21st).
This experience not only complements their lessons in math, reading, and social studies, but also gives them the opportunity to “walk the talk” of good citizenship. The community’s support in the students’ efforts has taught them that we can truly make a positive difference for others when we work together.

After collecting $615.50 in pennies last year, we weren’t sure if there would be any pennies left in Newman Grove; but our total for this year is $434.50, so obviously there are still pennies out there! We are hoping to collect enough to make our combined total for the two years top $1,000.
Quite an accomplishment for a group of young people, their pennies, and the amazing community behind them! Thank you so much to you all for the wonderful lessons you have taught them!
