Blue Jays finish regular season meets

The Newman Grove/ Lindsay Holy Family wrestling team traveled to Clearwater for their last regular season meet. The team knew that they had to do very good so they can get a good seed for Districts.
The results of the meet: Dylan Zoucha was pinned by Drew Smith of Elkhorn Valley, lost to Colby Forbes of Plainview 5-18, and was pinned by Brady Wurdeman of Winside, Dylan placed fourth in the 103 weight class; Scott Boettcher was pinned by Taylor Sauser, was pinned by Ernie Short of Clearwater-Orchard, beat Allen Miller 8-0, and was pinned by Eric Coufal of Howells.
Tony Wallin beat Levi Lange of Winside 5-3, beat Ben Gubbels 8-6, was pinned by Carter Tegeler of Elkhorn Valley, and was pinned by Austin Pittet of Plainview, Tony place fourth in the 119 weight class. Sheldon Boschen pinned Chris Brown of Osmond, Peter Hansen of Winside, Austin Heying, Zakk Thompson of Plainview, and Devin Brown of Elgin/Elgin Pope John, Sheldon placed first in the 125 weight class.
Dakota Ruhnke beat Garrett Kuhl of Osmond, and was pinned by Ethan Thies of Winside and Nick Niles of Plainview, Dakota placed fourth in the 130 weight class. Jerett Sueper pinned Shane Vanis, pinned Dylan Pesek of Winside, beat Anthony Hemenway 8-3, and was pinned by Dalton Bevill of Plainview; Jerett placed second in the 135 weight class.
Matt King beat Casey Sayers of Howells 8-0, pinned Michael Vargas of Osmond, was pinned by Jake Jessen of Plainview, and pinned AJ Braband of Elgin/Elgin Pope John, Matt placed third in the 140 weight class. Ross Sueper lost to Brandon Wragge of Howells 3-6, lost to Zach Brokaw of Winside 16-0, and pinned Beau Heithoff of Elgin/Elgin Pope John, Ross placed third in the 152 weight class.
Ben Jaconson was pinned by Bradley Doffin of Winside, lost to Nick Farmer of Elgin/ Elgin Pope John 2-4, beat Tyler Steinkraus of Plainview 3-0, lost to Alex Harrington of West Point 3-6, and was pinned by Derek Coufal of Howells. Mark O’Brien pinned Steven Christiansen of Plainview, pinned John Eckmann, was pinned by Corey Brester of Howells, and pinned Randy Kruse of Osmond, Mark placed third in the 171 weight class; Derek Stone pinned Chris Tomasek of West Point, pinned Elliot Marr, pinned Tanner Vargas of Osmond, and beat Brandon Wills of Plainview, Derek placed first in the 285 weight class.
The team finished in fifth place with 136 points. The team will go to West Point- Beemer for the Class C2 District Meet on February 12 and 13. We hope to see our friends and other supporters there to be behind us and help us get to the STATE TOURNAMENT.
