Blue Jays take home the Gold at Home Dual Meet

Ross Sueper

The Newman Grove/Lindsay Holy Family wrestling team came out to start the 2010 part of the season on a high and exciting note. The Blue Jays hosted the Holiday Duals on January 2 and claimed the gold. The teams that attended were Millard South JV, Grand Island JV, Norfolk JV, Millard North JV, Fremont JV, Scribner/ Snyder, and Battle Creek JV.

The Blue Jays started the day off by dualing Millard North. Jerett Sueper started us off by pinning Davis Vinckier, Matt King beat Adam De Vries 6-0, Derek Wallin received a forfeit, Ben Jacobson beat Phillip Brunetti 3-1, Mark O’ Brien was pinned by Camden Lundgren, Brock Donelson pinned Mark McGloin which was Brock’s first victory of his high school career, Derek Stone received a forfeit, Dylan Zoucha pinned Roger Linn, Scott Boettcher pinned Alicia Macias, Tony Wallin received a forfeit, Sheldon Boschen pinned Matt Young, and Dakota Ruhnke pinned Mitch Miller. The fourth dual was against Norfolk. This was the dual that we knew we had to win in order for us to go for the Gold. The final score was Newman Grove 41 and Millard South 28. This was the second time that they won their own tournament after cooping with Lindsay Holy Family 2 years ago. After this meet, Derek Stone moved to 112 career wins, passing Nick Schmidt and Travis Anderson.
