Community Club Meets
The October meeting of the Newman Grove Community Club brought some new people and new ideas!
One of the newsworthy items decided on was lowering the rental rates for the Community Center from the current $125 for 24 hours down to $75.
There have not been enough rentals recently to cover the expenses necessary to keep the building operating. The hope is that lowering the rates will allow more people to use the facility and up the rental income. So if you have any events coming up that you need a facility for, please consider your local Community Center!
Also be watching for announcements for the Halloween Haunted House. Although this event is not put on by the Community Club it will be in the basement of the Comm. Center and the Community Club will be offering snacks and drinks for sale to make the event even more fun!
There was discussion about clean-up and maintenance of the lot to the west of the Center, and removal of the Senior Citizen’s Center sign on the east of the building.
The main topic discussed was opening the Center back up to our beloved Senior Citizens! We are going to start by hosting a Soup Supper and Bingo Night on October 6 at 5:00 p.m. Soup and cookies/bars will be provided with Bingo and prizes (not money) to follow!
This will be a free event for our Seniors. Anyone wishing to help (make soup, cookies/bars, set-up, clean-up, flyers, etc.), please contact Larry or Kathi Killgore, Dennis McCloud, Karen Cleland, Phyllis Weitzel, or Becky Dunlap.
If the event goes well, we will try to have similar evenings every month. Note: For the convenience of the Board members these will be held on the same evening as our regular monthly meetings which will be at 7:00 p.m. or whenever the Bingo or other event is over. Attendance at the meeting is definitely not required, but you are certainly welcome to stay!
