Newman Grove’s Didgets take third

The Didgets, a 9 and under team, had a good time playing ball this summer, and finished with good standing.

Coached by Justin and Kim Ranslem and Bruce and Keith Backhaus, the Didgets finished their regular season with a 7-2 standing.

In tournament play, the team won their first game, lost the second and won the third game. At the end of 5 innings the score was tied 7-7. They went into overtime and won the game 10 to 9.

They finished third in the tournament games, a pretty good record for boys playing coach pitch baseball, many of the team members playing their first year.

Members of the team are: Dillon Bagley, Jayme Bollig, Logan Dickey, Bryton Fowlkes, Ben Gottsch, Chris Gottsch, Logan Hodges, Levi Krueger, Keaton Morris, Caden Ranslem, Matthew Rast and Brady Sokol.

I personally had a ball watching these boys play, and I can’t wait for next year’s season to start! The coaches did a great job and the parents and grandparents and friends had a good time yelling and cheering the boys on to victory, and even those losses. Everybody got along and there was a good sense of camaraderie. Thanks, Didgets and coaches, for making my summer one to remember.
