C-2 district wrestling results: Four go to state
Larry Boschen
Well all the hype about this being a tough district is true. The team went in unafraid and fought tooth and nail for everything we got.

| Luke Gasper tries to overtake his opponent. |
 |
| Sheldon Boschen put up a good fight. |
Our team placed 8th in the 16 team field. We qualified 4 (same as last year in the D-2 district.). 2 Champions: Jordan Fowlkes at 112, and Derek Stone at 215 getting his 100th career victory in the finals.
Luke Gasper came in seeded 6th and finished in 3rd place at 145 and Sheldon Boschen qualified with a 4th place finish.
This is Derek’s first trip to state. Luke and Sheldon are making it down for the second time and Jordan Fowlkes is a now a four time qualifier. Three wrestlers were only one match away from qualifying, Dylan Zoucha at 103, Jerett Sueper -130 losing in overtime, and Ben Jacobson – 152 the eleventh seed fighting through to the top six and almost making it.

| Derek Stone makes his 100th victory in the final. |
We were happy with the effort put in by all and I think the teams remember we were there and don’t look at us as just the Class D team that moved up into Class C.
Up next is the State tournament. Senior and 2nd ranked, Jordan Fowlkes 39-0 will be paired up against Jesse Hays 26-11, a sophomore from Southern Valley. Sheldon Boschen 37-5 will have fellow sophomore and 3rd ranked Garret Lambrecht of Wood River who’s record is 39-1.
Luke Gasper, a senior with a record of 35-10, will have a freshman from Grand Island Central Catholic who is 24-5. 5th ranked Junior, Derek Stone 39-1 will have Joshua Powell 28-12 a Junior from Kenesaw Shelton.
Wrestling will start at 4:30 on Thursday for the Jays, and it will be a very exciting tournament for these four athletes. Hope to see you there.
